Meetup – 9th December 2019

A great turn out for the meet up where we enjoyed a warm up exercise from Leigh, followed by a rich and immersive “swimming pool” experience led by Maria. The theme of the meet up was how to be creative with large groups and this exercise highlighted how large numbers of learners can become engaged in an exercise that raises awareness of the connection between thoughts, feelings and their body. If you would like to hear more see Maria’s article in the Creative Academic Magazine.

Next up was Sean who, explained how , along with David,  developed #MyCommunityUoS an interactive space to debate, discuss and reflect on what it means to be part of a community. This was a large scale project that encouraged student nurses to share their experiences. Sean discussed the benefits and hopes to be submitting this experience (along with his students) to the special edition of the PRISM journal – Our Creative Selves – closing date the 3rd February 2020 – we hope you will all consider submitting….

The next meet up will be in Liverpool on the 11th February 2020, watch this space for further details

Wishing you all a happy, relaxing and creative festive season and a happy and healthy New Year.

Event information:

We are delighted to be able to share details of the next #creativeHE meetup of the academic year.

On Monday 9th December everyone is welcome at the University of Salford, Mary Seacole building room 302, details and booking here. The usual time, 12-2pm.

At the meetup we will be spending a little bit of time focussing on “being creative in large groups”, hopefully we can share ideas and experiences.

Don’t let this topic put you off, the community meetups are supportive and you can just come along, no need to prepare anything… we also encourage students to attend, so feel free to bring  students with you. Hope to see you all there.  As we are meeting around lunchtime, we usually all bring a little something for lunch that can be shared 😉
