Dear #creativeHE friends,
We hope that 2021 started well for you and you managed to get some well deserved rest over the break to fill your batteries with fresh energy. And that you and all your loved ones are safe during these challenging times.
We are planning our next #creativeHE meetup and have seen that many of you would be interested in exploring together creative approaches to community formation. And this is exactly what we decided to take forward on the 26th of February, 1-3pm (UK time).
What has creativity, resourcefulness and playfulness to do with community? Come along to discuss and debate.
We really hope you can join us and share ideas and practices. Things that worked and also things that didn’t work… yet maybe… as such experiences can provide valuable learning opportunities too.
We are inviting you tell us in the registration form if you would like to share a creative practice for community formation you have tried recently and are also very much interested to hear from students…
We are proposing a simple structure for the meetup – we want to recreate the sense of communal coming-together that you find sharing stories around a camp fire. With that in mind, the session will be split into two parts:
Part 1: Pitching camp
In the first hour we will lay the ground for our discussion – what do we know about how creativity can help to foster learning communities, and what does this look like in practice? This will be followed by a short break
Part 2: Campfire stories
In the second hour, you are invited to share your experiences of creative communities, or using creativity to build and/or maintain your community. We would love to hear your own stories, 5-10 minutes in length – if you would like to contribute there is space to record this on the registration form. We are particularly interested to hear any examples that you have implemented in your practice with your students as a result of a previous engagement with #creativeHE.
If this sounds of interest to you, please register at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeDWSfeHujWPDYjPJjTlrxah2zfjZiOqfnzq7wHpidw7w3Z_Q/viewform
All very welcome. Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues and students who may also like to join.
We would also like to bring the following event to your attention, kindly shared by Dr Helen Webster. It is an event on inclusion in creating online communities, run by disabled people who are the experts in this. Please see The Staying Inn for further information.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the 26th 😉
